[BUG] version mismatch #1858

Description

@dmc-ns

Description

I'm building headroom docker container from main branch - basically by git pull + docker compose build
then on compose project restart I expect to see something that indicates that version,
for now - running container does not indicate its version,
there is one reported in dashboard, but it's not much reliable and non consistent (for now it will show 0.3.0 and quickly changes into 0.29.0)

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. git clone repo
  2. docker compose build
  3. docker compose up (no version here)
  4. browse for dashboard in browser - observer reported version

Expected Behavior

It would be nice to get reliable versioning, I'd expect to have +v0.1 on main branch, for now last release is 0.30.0 (4 days ago) and I cannot confirm anyhow if I updated/built it correctly. Dashboard should indicate something useful, as well as startup messages. If recent changes will get into 0.31.0 it should be 0.31.0-dev or 0.31.0-hash (to see change on pull&build)
also dashboard for now reports v0.3.0 (is that v0.30.0?) and changes quickly into v0.29.0 - is that one older?)

Actual Behavior

Main branch version reports only on dashboard something that looks like last release, and changes it to even older. It's hard to confirm that right thing is running.

Environment

  • Headroom version: docker compose build

Additional Context

Earlier it was even older version, In that case I'm always trying to clear everything from browser context to be sure that nothing is cached.
